(1936 – 1990)

Late Shri G. Varadaraj, popularly known as GV, was a scion of the PSG family and a visionary in Industry and Education. He was also a distinguished Parliamentarian representing the State of Tamil Nadu in Rajya Sabha from 1981 for a period of six years.

He led the growth and development of the PSG group of educational institutions - Sarva Jana Higher Secondary School, PSG college of Arts and Science, PSG Industrial Institute, PSG College of Technology. As Managing Trustee of the PSG Institutions, from 1978 to 1990, he founded the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in 1985.

Shri G. Varadaraj also played a leading role in the Rotary movement and as Governor of the erstwhile Rotary District 320 in 1981, was largely instrumental in starting the Measles Immunization and Polio Vaccination Programs in many rural areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Shri G. Varadaraj founded Rajshree Sugars and Chemicals Limited in 1987 establishing a Sugar factory in one of the most backward areas of the Theni district of Tamil Nadu, paving the way for the economic and social development of the rural community by providing employment opportunities to the local people.

He was actively involved with various Trade organizations such as Indian Cotton Mills Federation, Southern India Mills Association, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Coimbatore) and Engineering Export Promotion Council.
